Our Approach

For a family-run business with roots dating back to the 19th century, taking a long-term view is second nature.

In our view, the decades and the crises that punctuate them cannot be navigated without a sense of responsibility and respect for the people a business works with, and the environments in which it operates.

Certifications

Since 2022, we have been formalising our practices in the areas of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development (SD). This endeavour culminated in 2026 with our EcoEntreprise certification (SD/CSR Level II).

Max Havelaar & Bio Inspecta

As far as our produces are concerned, Carasso Coffees was among the first roasters in Switzerland, in the early 1990s, to work with the Max Havelaar Foundation. Organic certification followed shortly afterwards. Today, a third of our production holds dual certification (Fair Trade + Organic).

Standardisation of practices

With regard to energy saving and waste management, the company has been constantly seeking improvements ever since our first projects with SIG (Geneva State energy and water services) in 2015. Whether it concerns residues from the roasting process (coffee beans skin), our packaging or lighting, progress towards environmentally friendly materials and energy sources allows us to make strides every year.

Carasso Coffees also encourages its partners to reuse their packaging (e.g. 15% discount in-store). To put these efforts into perspective, our aim for 2026–2027 is to carry out a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment of our operations.

Key partnerships

At a local level, the company has forged long-term partnerships, notably with the Partage Foundation and SGIPA. It also supports the Y30 humanitarian project, which is headquartered in Geneva and operates in Yemen.
